FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

IDA SPORTS CELEBRATES THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF TITLE IX WITH RELEASE OF A COMMEMORATIVE KIT IN SUPPORT OF SPORTS BRA PROJECT

June 20, 2022This June 23 marks the 50th Anniversary of Title IX and Ida Sports is celebrating with the release of a commemorative retro kit in support of the Sports Bra Project. The female-founded footwear brand will be donating 50% of profits to the non-profit, which provides female athletes around the world with access to a basic and often forgotten piece of sports gear; the sports bra.

Beyond simply allowing women and girls the opportunity to play, both Ida and the Sports Bra Project see access to properly fitting athletic footwear and apparel as an essential component of reducing the participation gap and dropout rates of women and girls in sports.

“Female athletes having access to equipment specifically designed to meet their needs, makes sports more accessible and normalizes their needs and experiences as athletes. As a "Title IX" baby I grew up wearing improperly fitting gear for much of my life. Now as a coach, 50 years after Title IX passed, it is still hard to find coaching gear and equipment designed for women. We’re thrilled to work with Ida on this kit that both celebrates how far we have come, and the work that still needs to be done to attain equity in all areas of sports."  - Sarah Dwyer-Shick, Sports Bra Project Founder

The commemorative tops will drop this June (release date to be announced!) retail at $39.99. The tops will be available exclusively at idasports.com and wearefoudys.com in the UK, and only 150 are being released worldwide.

“We spend so much time designing women’s cleats, that it was fun to get creative in designing a retro kit. We hope anyone who aligns with the mission of Ida, the Sports Bra Project, or simply the progression of women through sport, feels inspired to rock this meaningful and playful top!”   – Laura Youngson, Ida Sports Co-founder

The Title IX commemorative tops are set to be released for pre-order on June 23 and will retail at $39.99USD/£31.99GBP. The tops will be available exclusively at idasports.com and wearefoudys.com (UK), and only 150 are being released worldwide.

ABOUT IDA SPORTS

After setting a world record with Equal Playing Field Initiative for the highest altitude soccer game to highlight gender inequality in sport, co-founder of Ida Sports Laura Youngson realized this amazing group of women from all over the world had a common problem - soccer cleats were extremely uncomfortable.

Ida Sports spent the next two and a half years working with podiatrists, physical therapists, coaches, and over 800 female players to develop their first product; a soccer cleat designed specifically for women. This is about more than a shoe though. Ida is dedicated to gender equality, empowering women and girls, and ensuring everyone has the right to enjoy sport.

ABOUT THE SPORTS BRA PROJECT

The Sports Bra Project increases access to sports for women and girls by removing barriers to participation. They provide sports bras to athletes who don’t have access to such a basic piece of equipment. Through a growing network of female coaches and athletes who collect and distribute sports bras, The Sports Bra Project works to make participation in sports possible for all girls and women. To ensure that the equipment gets to its intended location, the project works with trusted partners in the U.S. and abroad. Sports Bras are hand-delivered by individuals and organizations when they travel overseas.
