IDA Sports Releases GRLSFIT, Revolutionizing Youth Soccer Footwear with First-Ever Cleat Designed Uniquely for Girls Players
GRLSFIT features bespoke, science-backed design for youth girl players; Now available for presale on idasports.com
NEW YORK (Jan. 17, 2025) — IDA Sports, the only footwear company designing soccer cleats exclusively for female players, today released GRLSFIT – its first-ever cleat built for youth players. GRLSFIT expands upon IDA’s female-specific line of products, joining the company’s portfolio of soccer cleats that are backed by science and built based on the unique biological needs of the female athlete.
The cleat will be available to youth players of all ages and skill levels. The Travel style is a perfect fit for travel and recreational players, while the NextGen style is for soccer-obsessed players with dreams of competing at the highest level.
“We are incredibly excited to usher in a new era for IDA and expand our catalog to include GRLSFIT, ensuring players have access to a cleat designed for them through every step of their soccer journey,” said Laura Youngson, co-founder and CEO of IDA Sports. “Like all of our products, GRLSFIT is backed by sports science to create a cleat that strives for increased comfort, performance, and injury prevention, that starts educating athletes early, and that inspires the ultimate ‘girl power’ for the future stars of the women’s game.”
As girls’ feet can start to change as early as eight years old, GRLSFIT accommodates the growing bodies of youth players by featuring:
-
A wider toe box to better accommodate a growing foot.
-
A custom stud configuration to better support female biomechanics, including many short, round studs to optimize traction.
-
Additional support and cushioning on both the heel and insole for growing bones.
-
A design created using a girls-specific last (the form used to shape the shoe) instead of a unisex mold.
-
The NextGen style also features an increased cushion at the heel to provide comfort for all-day play and alleviate strain on growing feet.
“We designed IDA’s girls-specific fit utilizing data from foot scanning, fit testing, and wear testing,” said Emelia Funnell, IDA’s Head of Research. “We believe that this new product offering will help girls transition into a women’s specific fit as they grow into themselves and the game.”
GRLSFIT is now available for presale on idasports.com, starting at $64.99 and ranging in size 2.5G (1Y Unisex) to 4.5G (3Y Unisex).
The release of GRLSFIT joins IDA’s recently announced “Show Your Shine” campaign, featuring both the new youth product and previously unveiled expanded colorway offerings for IDA’s RISE line – you can learn more here.
